They've opened for such national acts as: The Roots, Michelle N'degelcello, Ozomatli, Reuben Wilson,De La Soul, Poi-dog Pondering, Amel Larrieux, Greyboy Allstars, Black-eyed-peas, Groove Collective, Talib Kwali and Shinehead. They've also successfully headlined their own shows from venues as big as the House of Blues, to the more intimate setting of the world renown jazz club the Green Mill. They were recently named the best act in Chicago by the Independant Regional Poll of "The Musicians Atlas" based on nominations by local writers, clubs and radio people.

The J. Davis Trio, "The New No. 2" (Yo Yo; www.jdavistrio.com) ***These four local musicians (drums, vocals, bass/clarinet, and trumpet) bill their inventive sound as "rap music for the rest of us." Think of it as Chicago's answer to the fluid, jazzy, musically challenging hip-hop of the Roots, and revel in the smart, sexy grooves of their solid debut album.  -- Jim Derogotis, CHICAGO SUN TIMES
